You can borrow a large amount without a credit check or proof of income if the loan is secured by a valuable asset. In asset-based underwriting, the lender's protection is the collateral, so it evaluates the asset's value and how easily it could be sold instead of your credit score, tax returns or bank statements. LQD arranges capital this way from $10,000 to $10 million or more, with no credit pull and no income documents.

This guide explains what gets checked and what does not, which documents speed things up, who uses these loans, whether they appear on a credit report, and how to tell a legitimate provider from a predatory one.

Why some loans need credit checks and others do not

A bank making an unsecured loan or a mortgage has to predict whether you will repay from your income. It looks at your credit history, debt-to-income ratio, pay stubs, tax returns and bank statements, because your future earnings are what it is relying on.

An asset-based loan works differently. The capital provider holds a specific asset worth more than the loan. If the loan is not repaid, the asset is sold to cover it. Because repayment is secured by the collateral, your income and credit history matter far less, and many asset-based providers, including LQD, do not look at them at all.

This is also why asset-based loans are usually short-term and why the amount is set as a percentage of the asset's value. The provider needs a margin in case prices fall or a sale takes time. For more on how that percentage is set, see our complete guide to luxury asset loans.

What is checked, and what is not

What LQD evaluates

What LQD does not ask for

Authenticity of the asset

Credit report or credit score

Condition and completeness

Tax returns

Current secondary-market value and comparable sales

W-2s or pay stubs

How quickly the asset could be sold (market depth)

Bank statements

Proof that you own it and that any liens can be cleared

Employment verification

Provenance and supporting documents, where they exist

Personal financial statements

Every submission still goes through review and approval. Standard identity verification is part of closing.

How the asset is evaluated

Asset-based underwriting asks three questions about the collateral.

1. Is it real, and is it yours?

The asset is authenticated by specialists in its category, and ownership is confirmed. For a car, that means title and VIN. For a watch, serial and reference numbers, and ideally box and papers. For a diamond, a lab report such as a GIA grading report. For art, provenance and any certificates. Items with contested ownership or liens that cannot be cleared at closing do not qualify.

2. What is it worth today?

Value is based on what the asset would sell for in the current secondary market, using recent comparable sales from auctions, dealers and private transactions. LQD uses AI-assisted underwriting to weigh comparables, condition and provenance quickly, which is why an offer can arrive within hours.

3. How easily could it be sold?

Two assets with the same value can support different loan amounts. A popular steel Rolex has buyers worldwide and sells in days. A rare piece from a small maker may be worth the same but take months to sell. The more liquid the asset, the higher the loan-to-value it usually supports.

Documents that speed things up

No documents are required to start. LQD performs its own research, valuation and verification. Documents you already have can strengthen the valuation and shorten the timeline.

Asset

Most useful documents

Luxury and classic cars

Title, VIN, service records, recent appraisal

Watches

Box and papers, warranty card, service history, receipt

Diamonds and jewelry

GIA or other lab reports, appraisals, receipts

Handbags

Fine art

Provenance, certificates of authenticity, past auction records

Boats and aircraft

Documentation or registration, survey, logbooks, insurance

Precious metals

Assay certificates, purchase records

Construction equipment

Title or bill of sale, hours, service logs

Clear photos from several angles, including serial numbers, are useful for every category.

Does an asset-based loan show up on your credit report?

LQD does not pull your credit, so there is no hard inquiry on your file. Because the arrangement is not underwritten against your credit profile, it generally does not appear on your credit report either. The same is true of most pawn and luxury asset loans. It also means repaying on time will not build your credit history, which is worth knowing if that is a goal.

LQD does not contact employers or banks, and it does not share your situation with outside parties.

Who uses loans without income verification?

How to spot a predatory "no credit check" lender

"No credit check" is also used to sell high-cost payday and title loans. A legitimate asset-based provider and a predatory one can sound alike in an ad. These warning signs separate them:

Comparing offers from different kinds of lenders also helps. Our side-by-side guide covers pawn shops, luxury lenders, private banks and SBLOCs.

The trade-offs

Skipping credit and income review has costs as well as benefits:

For borrowers who need speed and privacy, or whose income is hard to document, these trade-offs are often worth it. For someone who qualifies easily for a low-rate bank loan and has time to wait, a bank may cost less.

Frequently asked questions

Can I really get a large loan with no credit check?

Yes, if it is secured by a valuable asset. LQD arranges capital from $10,000 to $10 million or more based on the asset, without pulling credit.

Do I need to show income or tax returns?

No. LQD does not ask for tax returns, W-2s, pay stubs, bank statements or employment verification.

Can I get a loan with bad credit if I own a valuable asset?

Yes. Because approval is based on the asset, your credit history does not determine eligibility. The asset must be authentic, owned by you, and have a resale market.

Will the loan affect my credit score?

There is no hard inquiry, and the arrangement generally is not reported to credit bureaus, so it should not affect your score either way.

How fast can I get funded without income verification?

A liquidity offer typically arrives within hours, and funds are typically wired 24 to 72 hours after final approval.

What do you need from me?

A description of the asset, its estimated value, and the amount you need. Proof of ownership and supporting documents help but are not required to begin. Standard identity verification is part of closing.

Are no-credit-check loans legal?

Asset-secured loans are a long-established form of lending. Rules vary by state and jurisdiction, and availability of specific structures can differ. Ask any provider which rules apply to your arrangement.
